Electric Gate Maintenance

Despite first impressions, everyday use can cause damage to the electric gate you now have. It is exposed to the elements throughout the year. Electric gate maintenance is more complicated than their manual counterparts because of the motorised system that allows them to open and close at will.

Take care to maintain a spotless entrance way

Here’s how to disinfect your electric gate:

  • Cleaning your gate on your own shouldn’t be too challenging if it’s built of a non-rusting material like aluminium, steel, vinyl, or whatever else.
  • Start by filling a sponge with a mild dish soap and water solution.
  • Start at the top of the gate and wipe your way down.
  • A quick scrub with some soap and water should remove any rust spots you find.
  • If you’ve just used a sponge to scrub your gate clean, give it a quick rinse and let it dry in the sun.
  • A dry rag can also be used to clean the gate. Drying is facilitated when cleaning is done on a clear, sunny day.

Once the gate has dried, a protective wax can be applied to keep it from rusting.

Wooden and wrought-iron gates are not meant to be cleaned with water. Once wood has absorbed water, it will swell and become warped. Further, it will accelerate the rusting of wrought iron. The electric gate maintenance should be assigned to specialists.

Frequently Apply Lubricant

The lubrication step occurs once the cleaning one is done with. Regular electric gate maintenance should include greasing the working parts. Wear and tear on moving parts is inevitable due to friction over time.

Keep in mind that you should always consult an expert when problems develop, no matter how knowledgeable you are about the world of DIY projects. Please don’t try fixing dings or loosening fasteners on your own. You risk injury if you do this, and it could also be illegal.
